Hystat is pleased to announce the acquisition of the assets of Calderfield Hydraulics Ltd and John Henderson (UK) Ltd.

Through this acquisition, Hystat has secured all associated business information, intellectual property rights, and technical drawings. This ensures the continued support for systems originally designed and supplied by these organisations.

Calderfield Hydraulics and John Henderson (UK) Ltd were leading designers of oil hydraulic dock gate systems, supplying many of the UK’s major ports and pioneering the introduction of centralised control systems across the sector. They also developed advanced control systems for roll-on/roll-off ramps, linkspans, and passenger walkways, utilising modern hydraulic control alongside PLC and HMI technologies. These systems have since become widely accepted as an industry standard across numerous UK ports.

Their portfolio includes a number of significant projects, such as:

• Fast ramp systems for inter-island ferry services in the Shetland Isles.
• Full design and manufacture of hydraulic and control systems for Spencer Dock, Dublin, including sector gates, inner gates, central control desks, pendant control, and local manifold valve systems.
• Certified safety load holding manifolds installed at ports including Holyhead, Cairnryan, and Larne.

In addition, their work has supported a wide range of operators and port authorities, including Stena Line, Mersey Dock & Harbour Company, Manchester Ship Canal Company, RNLI, Bristol Port Company, Belfast Harbour, and Waterways Ireland, along with installations across numerous UK and European ports.
