In depth reports and analysis of some of the exciting projects Hystat is working on around the UK.
Through the acquisition of Bradford Cylinders we identified that the cylinder was originally supplied by Bradford, with the design dating back to 1990.
Owning the intellectual property allows the HSL group to offer genuine spares and repairs.
The customer had been experiencing problems with damaging hoses and had tried multiple times over the years to rectify. They requested us to modify the original cylinder so as to avoid damaging the flexible hoses by means of moving the full bore porting to the front of the
cylinder. They also requested a bespoke manifold block including counterbalance function so as to control the cylinder retract under load to avoid run away.

Cylinder Stats
Bore: Ø250
Rod: Ø140
Stroke: 2175mm
Overall Length: 3230mm
Design Pressure: 150 Bar
Maximum flow rate = 350 L/MIN
Mounting: Trunnion
Environment: Steel Works
Dry Weight: 2200KG
Utilising personnel and experience at both our repair facility in Washington and new supply in Huddersfield we re-designed and re-engineered their existing unit additive to the repair.
This involved using 3D modelling software to model up the existing frame work/ carriage that the cylinder operated in to avoid any interference during install.
The bespoke manifold block and adaptor plates were designed and manufactured in house. Modification of existing components completed to the repair. The technical office supplied a full drawing pack to support the design changes and modifications for the cylinder. A bespoke FAT was conducted prior to in house shot blast and paint.
